This is something I thought of a while back, but, as the title suggests, I really don't have the capability to pull it off. It's large enough that I doubt it will ever be done, but I figured that it's better to at least throw the idea out rather than let it fester in my skull, driving me insane.
For those of you who play EQ2, I'm sure you're familiar with the Guild Halls released a few months back. For those who don't, let me assure you that the largest version is *HUGE.* So large, in fact, that it is really its own little island.
After some fantasies about how I'd decorate my own top-tier Guild Hall, should I ever actually get one (very doubtful), I thought of something. These Guild Halls are large enough, and layed out well enough, that I think it'd be possible to create a player-run city.
The amenities supply a number of the regular functions of the other major cities, and with the Call and the door to personal homes, it could be like living at the Hall itself, while still keeping the residence size of your choice whereever your character happens to be aligned.
However, it's one hell of an expensive and huge venture to do something like that. There's not only the money and status, but working out who runs the city and getting that guild to lv 70 in the first place. I know it's *way* beyond my own capabilities. I just thought it'd be an interesting thing to have on a server, and be a part of.
I'm posting this here because I think if there was to be one created, I'd like it to be of Iksar design. After all, there's still that outpost of Visk to be rediscovered, if it will ever be shown at all. And personally, I'd love to see players come together and create something that's not only unique, but can fit in with the lore. Though, it also presents some additional problems...
As mentioned earlier, I don't really expect this to come to fruition, as I think it's a little too difficult to put together. However, I feel that I needed to at least mention this idea, and see how things turn out.
*goes to pound his head against the wall a couple times to unconfuse himself*
