An Old Historian known as Kelisk Mae`Loch had transcribed an article about the old Kunark as a Land.... below is the recovered text.
-------------------------------------------
The first and most important knowledge of any adventuring Iksar is a general knowledge of Kunark as a land. The most accurate map of our land (and indeed most of Norrath) is that penned by Vanusk, a spiritist who held the responsibilities of the primary Cartographer until soon after the Faydwer alliance's reclamation of its outpost to the south. Vanusk disappeared without explanation quickly after the Koada'Dal appeared again on our shore. Some suspect... well. That's all a topic for another day. Here is Vanusk's map:
Our land lies directly to the south of what the Elves have named Faydwer, the Broken Teeth extending almost to touch the Dragonscale Islands off of Faydwer's southern coast. To the northwest is the large and most diversely populated land, called Antonica by the Humans, whose southeastern swamplands most closely approach Kunark's coast near the Burning Wood. To the Southwest is Velious, the frozen land, whose Icy Fingers near us most closely on the shores of the Dreadlands. To the east is the vast Eastern Deep, whose waters are so treacherous as to remain unexplored by any who might return to tell of what lies beyond the horizon.
Ours is a land rich in life, and represents many systems of nature. The sheer diversity is best described by the snowcapped peaks of the Dreadland mountains having a neighbor in the lava and flames of Skyfire. For the most part, though, a general rule applies to Kunark: East of Ill Omen, one will be choked by trees; west of Ill Omen, one shouldn't plan on seeing any foliage growing higher than the waist. There are exceptions, of course - the jungles do creep around to the southwest and begin to contest with the plains of the Dreadlands, and the Field of Bone to the Northeast hasn't seen a living plant in centuries.
Kunark has two large bodies of freshwater: The Lake of Dismay in the northern Emerald Jungle and the Dragon Drool Lake in the hills now called Trakanon's Teeth. Historically, the massive Lake of Ill Omen was not only a freshwater source, but bubbled with healing waters... that is, of course, only history now. Various other smaller lakes and ponds are scattered throughout Kunark, but one should remember to keep a water extractor on hand when going exploring - ours is not a forgiving continent for foragers.
Kunark is the host for a wide variety of native and foreign creatures. The Iksar, of course, are the only ones deserving to roam free. The rest will be properly taken care of, in time... The creatures considered at least mildly intelligent threats to Iksar are:
Sarnak, Kromdul, Goblins, Burynai, Frogloks, Drolvargs, Dragonkind, Drachnids, and any invaders arriving from the outposts in the Overthere or the southern forest.
The feral species of Kunark include:
Giant Hornets, Great Apes, Chokidai/"Scaled Wolves", Gnawers, Goos, thingyatrice, Raptors, Tigers, Man-Traps, Giant Leeches, Great Brutes, Barracuda, and Sabertooth Tigers.
Resources and items of trade found in abundance on Kunark include precious gems, precious metals including gold and skyiron, various alchemical and edible flora including flarefire plants and emerald oranges, and fine lumber.
Active and profit-making mines on Kunark are found beneath the Frontier Mountains, the Burning Woods, the Field of Bone, Trakanon's Teeth, The Overthere, and the Dreadlands.
