Considering that prob about 75-80% of iksar (total spitball here) worship Cazic-Thule, do most players in-game choose the same path? How many of you for the sake of RP sacrifice choosing a diety just based on the miracles/blessings?

For my Iksar? None of them. I just write it into the story that they do, and move on with things . Other than that, they, on a very OOC level, worship other gods for their abilities.

Note: This is for EQ2. My EQ1 Iksar were all Cazic Thule worshippers.
My own character Xasshasis is somewhat unique when it comes to diety choice. Because he didn't grow up amongst other Iksar, and thus wasn't subjected to the tribalistic heritage Iksar seem to have, what with passing down their traditions and religion, he doesn't see Cazic Thule as a god to be worshipped. On the other hand, since he's of the belief of "survival of the fittest," to prove his own strength he often tries to defeat the toughest things he can find. Becauses of this, he pays homage to Veeshan, as dragons, in Xasshasis' opinion, are the most powerful beings on Norrath, and he sees them as a target to be overcome.
However, as Veeshan is currently not worshippable, in order to gain the benefits of miracles and the like, I've made Xasshasis a worshipper of Bristlebane. However, I strictly see this as a purely in-game decision, and not representative of the character himself.
A game such as this forces the players to make such distinctions between which mechanics are a part of their character and which aren't. Or you can change your character for every change the game makes, which isn't a very good option for an RPer, at least in my opinion. I dislike having to alter my character concept simply because the game only works a certain way.
However, I can say that as soon as Veeshan becomes worshippable, I'll definitely be switching my diety choice.
