Welcome to the new home of the Archive of Ik.
First things first, i'm pretty sure I know what you're thinking, why the move in the first place? The answer to that question is simple: GuildPortal was chosen at the time as a resource for our website at first due to ease and accessibility to content. What I didn't realize, and started finding out as i started to branch out and try new things was that it was incredibly limited in ways that I didn't want it to be, not allowing easy sorting of pages, articles, and other seemingly simple things that would have allowed me to branch out and do more things with the site in itself. On top of that, they wanted to charge large sums of money, moreso than any site or domain solution, for small allowances. Without this, even our forums were limited in post counts, which I didn't like seeing.
So why a move to Proboards? Why a move to a simple message board from a complex website? Well, the site wasn't all that complex. While I could do a lot of things on different pages, I can sort all that data just as easily into a forum, and I think that allows for you guys to get to the lore and info easier without having to work around GuildPortal's restraints. Proboards was a message board that a family member had hosted her large community off of for years, and it seemed simple enough to maintain. On top of that, all of what you see is free, all for a few Google ads that are embedded onto the page.
Registration remains free. Posting limiations are now lifted. I can stop worrying about HOW i'm going to do something, and now start giving you guys more. That's what you want to see, and that's what I want to provide as an administrator.
Thank you for your continued support.
